How to Give Hope to Someone Who Is Left Alone After a Husband Dies
- 1). Show the widow she has something to live for. Whether it be a beloved dog or children, everyone has a reason for being. Show her the things she enjoys doing and take the time to do them with her.
- 2). Develop hobbies with her if all of her hobbies and life revolved around her husband. Take the time to learn a new craft or take a class with her. Get her interested in something she enjoys so she is not sitting around feeling sad all of the time.
- 3). Spend time with the widow so she is not just sitting around thinking about missing her husband. Don't push her too much to leave the house or complete activities, but make it obvious you are there to help her with anything she needs. Make her dinner, help her with cleaning or drive her to run errands, for example.
- 4). Discuss life goals with your friend when she is ready. Ask her what she wants to do with her life and help her complete her goals. Just because her husband passed away, she does not have to stop living her life. Let her know she doesn't have to feel guilty about moving on.
