Inducing labor is the first item of business.
You really should not attempt to induce labor at home until you are near or at 40 weeks of pregnancy or later.

One way to protect against this is to make sure you are eating a healthy, high fiber diet and you are eliminating regularly.
You can take 1 to 4 ounces of castor oil mixed with 6 ounces of orange juice to make it more palatable.
It does not have a pleasant taste so it is recommended that you drink it quickly.

This method is somewhat like a vaginal examination and can sometimes be painful and can cause cramping.
The midwife or physician will sweep the membranes free from the lower section of the uterus.
This is believed to release prostaglandins which stimulate labor.
Acupressure Maternity acupressure is a method used by many midwives to induce labor and manage pain during the labor process.
The partner is encouraged to use the techniques during labor to assist in any way the laboring mother would like.
The techniques are easy to implement and do not have any side effects.
It uses the same philosophy as acupuncture but rather uses pressure through hands or instruments instead of needles.
The results can be quite rapid.
