  Although Oklahoma might be considered initially to have huge expanses of hot and dusty plains, there also are some very nice areas located around lakes. This is particularly true of the eastern part of the state where various resorts and private properties have cabins offering lakeside access for fishing, swimming and boating.

• Lee's Grand Lake Resort in northeast Oklahoma has 15 cabins that vary in terms of their number of bedrooms and amenities. The cabins come with free wireless Internet, air conditioning and heat, laundry facilities and decks that overlook Grand Lake. Additional amenities include gas grills at each cabin, cable TV, full bathrooms with either a shower or shower plus tub, and full kitchens with cooking utensil, stoves, ovens, microwaves, refrigerators and coffee pots. Linens are provided. Just about everything you need is located on the property. On the grounds are a small store with groceries and RV supplies, a swimming pool and a recreation room with a kitchen. Lakeside Lodges

• Situated in southern Oklahoma and not far from the Texas state line, the Lakeside Lodges are six miles from the the Chickasaw National Recreation Area and four miles from the Chickasaw Tribe Culture Center. Guests can choose from multiple cabins that come with linens and kitchens with appliances, cooking ware, utensils and coffee-makers. Flour, sugar and other food staples are stocked before your arrival. The property has four different cabins. The Lakeside Lodge has a hot tub, jacuzzi bath tubs, a fishing dock, canoe, paddle boat and a sandy beach. Most of the other cabins have the same features, although the Pine Tree Lodge has a shuffleboard game, a ping-pong table and its own canoe. The Hidden Cove cabin has its own boat dock. S&W Waterfront Cabins

• S&W Waterfront Cabins in the eastern part of Oklahoma has cabins that overlook Lake Eufaula and its beaches. The cabins are equipped with large decks with picnic tables and charcoal grills. Some cabins can sleep up to 12 and other have direct access to boat docks. Most cabins have Internet access. More features include sofa sleepers, cable TV and full kitchens with appliances. Linens as well as pots and pans are part of the package. Fishing is popular at Lake Eufaula , which is the largest lake in Oklahoma and has over 600 miles of shoreline.
