How to Apply For a Lost Virginia Title That I Need to Be Sent to an Address Out of State
- 1). Contact the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles online, by phone or by walking into a branch. Provide your current car's registration card and your state ID or driver's license.
- 2). Complete an Application for Supplemental Lien and Transfer Liens or Replacement and Substitute Titles. You can download the application (see the link in the Resources section) or obtain it from the DMV office.
- 3). Sign the application and give it to the clerk or mail it in (see the links in the References section for mailing addresses). Pay the title replacement fee. This fee as of 2011 varies based on the type of vehicle or trailer for which the title exists.
