Ten years after the events of 9/11, the National September 11 Memorial opened in Lower Manhattan. The 9/11 Memorial has been designed to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. The 9/11 Memorial Museum will open in May 2014.
The 9/11 Memorial was designed by architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker. Twin reflecting pools feature the names of the 2,983 people who were killed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York City, Shanksville, PA and at the Pentagon, as well as victims of the 1993 WTC bombing.
Located in lower Manhattan, the 9/11 Memorial is most easily accessible by public transportation
If you are driving to the 9/11 Memorial, you should use 1 Albany St. New York, NY as the address in Google Maps or your GPS. There is street parking (much of it with meters) and parking lots are also available. That said, driving into the area is highly discouraged -- due to ongoing construction, as well as security restrictions, it is not very easy to get around the area and parking is pretty limited.

Visiting the 9/11 Memorial is free, but there is a $2/pass service charge for passes reserved in advance online or by phone. (Same day passes issued in person do not incur a fee.) Right now, they are limiting the number of daily visitors to the Memorial to approximately 7,000. The timed tickets are for admission arrival time, but there is no limit on the length of your stay (while the Memorial is open).

- Subway: A/C, J/M/Z, 2/3, or 4/5 to Fulton Street; 2/3 to Park Place; E to World Trade Center; R or 1 to Rector Street

- Reserved Passes: Passes to access the Memorial have been reserved for family members and are available by calling 212-266-5201 daily from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
- Regular Passes: Family members can also reserve passes online through the Online Reservations System.
- 9/11 Family Member Reception: There is a separate reception/entry area for family members at 90 West St., adjacent to the Memorial.
Tips for Visiting the 9/11 Memorial
- Visiting the 9/11 Memorial no longer requires a ticket.
- There is no limit on the length of your stay at the 9/11 Memorial.
- There are two sets of digital directories on site to help you find a name you might be looking for on the Memorial.
