Welcome to Klaus K Hotel
Welcome to Klaus K Hotel
First opened in 1938 as the Klaus Kurki and thoroughly reinvented as a design hotel in 2005, today Klaus K Hotel in Helsinki, Finland has a combination of style and warmth that made it a top choice for visitors to the city.
The hotel is located a short walk from the city's popular Esplanade. To reach the reception area, guests must climb a flight of stairs, where they are rewarded with a glass of champagne upon check-in.
Recently the hotel began using its attractive lobby and reception areas as a backdrop to display art, inventing a new kind of gallery space that its sophisticated guests appreciate.
Passion Room at Klaus K Hotel
Drawing inspiration from the "Kalevala" — Finland’s national epic poem whose magic inspired the likes of J.R.R. Tolkien — Klaus K guest rooms interpret the work's themes of passion, desire, mysticism, and envy.
Smallest of the hotel's 137 guest rooms, Passion rooms are perfect for one or ideal for an intimate couple. Deep scarlet accents enhance the theme.
Desire Room at Klaus K Hotel
Like the hotel's Passion rooms, the larger Desire rooms at Klaus K feature a flat-screen TV and wi-fi. The safe is large enough to fit a laptop.
There's also a CD/DVD player, in-room music and video available, and air conditioning.
Envy Plus Room at Klaus K Hotel
Larger yet, the Envy Plus room at Klaus K has a king-size "dream bed" by Unikulma sheathed in good linen and offers more space to spread out.
Plush oversized robes, a minibar, room service availability, and the hotel's convenient "forgot-something" menu can inspire a couple to settle in to cuddle on a cold Helsinki night.
Weekend Urban Getaway packages include overnight accommodation for two in a Desire or Envy room, dinner for two in Toscanini (drinks are extra), two drink tickets and free entrance to Ahjo Club, and breakfast in Ilmatar restaurant.
Toscanini Restaurant at Klaus K Hotel
Savor authentic Tuscan cuisine and wine at Klaus K's ground-floor Toscanini Restaurant (the chef makes periodic forays to the Italian region to keep his palate tuned to the tastes of Italy).
Even a simple bruschetta topped with mozzarella tastes delicious here, perhaps because the bread was fresh and authentic, the tomatoes ripe, and the plate was prepared with care and served with pride.
Ilmatar Restaurant at Klaus K Hotel
Ilmatar Restaurant at Klaus K Hotel is located off of the lobby and serves what is dubbed "new Finnish cuisine" with a menu that includes Lapland reindeer filets.
Less-adventurous diners may be happiest at Toscanini on the ground level.
Or they may be tempted to linger in the hotel's backlit bar, where an extensive cocktail menu offers many flavorful choices.
Gym at Klaus K Hotel
Various machines intended to increase one's heart rate are housed in the gym at Klaus K.
Hotel staff can arrange for a personal trainer.
Day Spa at Klaus K Hotel
In-house treatments are available for those who find spa visits pleasureable and relaxing.
Elegant, tall-ceilinged Rake Sale, lit partially by crystal chandeliers, can accommodate up to 120 people for a sit-down wedding.
Two other event rooms hold 12 and 30 guests, respectively, for smaller affairs.
Catering is provided by Klaus K's in-house restaurants.
