How to File a Civil Suit in Lane County, Oregon
- 1). Draft a civil complaint naming the defendant, stating all facts supporting your claims, identifying the damages you seek and stating the statutes or common laws that you allege the defendant violated.
- 2). Complete a civil cover sheet from the clerk's office identifying the nature of your case, the name of the defendant and an estimation of the number of days you expect a trial would require.
- 3). Take one original copy of the complaint plus three photocopies of the complaint with you to the clerk's window at the court house.
- 4). Present the complaint and copies of the complaint as well as a civil cover sheet and the appropriate filing fee to the clerk of the court.
