How to Estimate an IQ From the SAT

104 13
    • 1). Add up your Verbal and Math scores. If you took the SAT after 2005, do not include your reading scores. Because score estimates are based on the score out of 1600, adding another potential 800 points would skew the results to suggest your IQ is higher than it is.

    • 2). Visit the pre-1974 SAT to IQ conversion table if you took the SAT before 1974. Scroll through the chart until you locate your score. Look to the right of the score to determine the estimated IQ.

    • 3). Navigate to the pre-1995 score chart if you took the test between 1974 and April 1995. Scroll through the chart until you locate your score. Look to the right of the score to determine the estimated IQ.

    • 4). Visit the SAT to IQ calculator. Enter your Math score in the "Math score" text field and enter your Verbal score in the "Verbal Score" text field. Click on the "When Did You Take the SAT?" drop-down menu and select the appropriate time period. Press the button that reads "Calculate IQ."
