  Troutbeck is a small town in northern England, nestled between Windermere and Ambleside. Visitors can expect to find scenic panoramic views of the surrounding mountain region, and many buildings dating back as early as the 1700s. One of the oldest properties in Troutbeck, Townend, is owned by the National Trust and has been staged with furnishings original to the farmhouse property. The house can be toured between March and October. Visitors to Troutbeck will find several small hotels to choose from.
  
  

The Troutbeck Inn

• The Troutbeck Inn, renovated in 2009, offers seven guest rooms and three private guest cottages. All accommodations are en suite, and outfitted in dark woods and country-inspired decor. Some guest rooms and cottages also afford mountain views. All cottages have high beamed ceilings, two bedrooms and full kitchens replete with stoves and dining areas. The hotel's restaurant features a wine list and serves dishes that includes pan-fried fillet of beef, slow-roasted loin of pork and grilled fillet of trout.

The Mortal Man

• The Mortal Man has offered guest accommodations in the Lake District since the late 1600s. The hotel affords views of the Lakeland Mountains and is also close to Lake Windermere. All guest accommodations have views of the Troutbeck Valley area and plush bedding, and some feature four-poster beds. Guests may take advantage of an activity booking service, in which the staff will set up excursions, including horseback riding and golf.
