How to Remove Extra Programs From Startup

    Windows XP

    • 1). Click on the desktop's window "Start" button and click on "Run" to make the "Run" dialog prompt to open.

    • 2). Type "msconfig" (without quotes) into the "Run" text box and press the "Enter" key. "System Configuration" will appear.

    • 3). Click on the "Startup" tab and remove the check marks the programs you plan to remove from Windows start up.

    • 4). Click on the "Apply" button and click on "OK." The dialog box will close and all changes saved.

    Windows Vista

    • 1). Click on the desktop's "Start" button.

    • 2). Click on "All Programs" and click on the "Windows Defender" option.

    • 3). Click on the "Tools" button. Click the "Software Explorer" option.

    • 4). Click on "Start Up" programs under the "Category" box.

    • 5). Click on the program you want to remove from Windows start up and click on "Disable." Do this for each individual program that you want to remove. Click on "Yes" to confirm the process and to apply changes.

    Windows 7

    • 1). Left click on the "Start" button located on your desktop window.

    • 2). Click on the "Control Panel" and select "System and Security."

    • 3). Click on "Administration Tools" and double-click on "System Configuration." The "System Configuration" dialog box will appear.

    • 4). Left click on the "Startup" tab and the "System Configuration" dialog box and remove the check marks from the software applications that you want to delete from Windows startup.

    • 5). Click "Apply" to save the changes and "OK" to close the dialog box.
