AC Problems With Water Drainage
- The condensation pump in your air-conditioner may not be working. To test this, pour water in the condensation pan and see if the pump starts. If it does not, check the circuit to ensure the pump is getting power and replace it if necessary.
- If the temperature outside dips below 60 degrees Fahrenheit at night, your air-conditioner coil may freeze. This is likely the problem if you notice the air-conditioner leaks only in the mornings. Try turning the unit off or to "Fan Only" before going to bed.
- If warm air is entering your home around the air-conditioner, it can mix with the cool air created by the unit and make condensation. This is likely the problem if you notice water dripping from under the front edge of the unit. The leak can be fixed by adding foam insulation around the air-conditioner.
- There is a small passage in your air-conditioner that lets water drain out of the unit. If there is water pooling at the front of the unit and overflowing onto the floor, this passage is likely blocked. Call a repair person to service the unit.
