Close Programs to Free Up Memory

• Press and hold "Ctrl" plus "Shift," then press "Esc" to bring up the Windows task manager. Click on the "Applications" tab. End any programs that are unnecessary or not in use to stop them from using up RAM.
  
  

Increase the Page File

• Right-click on the "My Computer" icon in the Start menu, then click "Properties." Click on the Advanced tab. Under "Performance," click "Settings." Under "Virtual Memory," click on the "Change" button and assign your desired amount of hard drive space to use as virtual memory.
  
  

Install More RAM

• If you find that you are often low on memory and your computer is running slowly, the most effective way to increase memory size is to install more RAM in your computer.
  
  

Increase Your Hard Drive Capacity

• It is recommended that the virtual memory file (or paging file) be at least 1.5 times that of your RAM, so if you have a low capacity hard drive, you will have less disk space to allocate as virtual memory. Increasing the hard drive will mean you can exceed the minimum requirements and allow more memory to be allocated.
