How to Make a Square Cupcake Stand With Styrofoam
- 1). Cut both pieces of styrofoam into 24-by-24-inch squares. These will act as the base for your cupcake stand. Use a ruler to measure and a pencil to trace guidelines for cutting. Save the remaining Styrofoam for later.
- 2). Hot glue the two 24-by-24-inch squares on top of each other to end up with a 24-by-24-by-8-inch square base.
- 3). Cut the remaining pieces of styrofoam into one 12-by-12-inch square and one 7-by-7-inch square; these will be the upper tiers of the cupcake stand.
- 4). Wrap each of the three squares separately with a wrapping paper pattern of your choice.
- 5). Cut a 4-inch-thick style of ribbon of your choice into a 96-inch piece, a 48-inch piece and a 28-inch piece. Hot glue the 96-inch ribbon around the sides of the base square, the 48-inch ribbon around the sides of the 12-by-12-inch square, and the 28-inch ribbon around the 7-by-7-inch square.
- 6). Cut four 4-by-3-inch rectangles from the remaining styrofoam. Cut thin, vertical slits in each rectangle. Fit two of the rectangle slits together to form an "X"; this will act as a column. Fit the other two rectangles together for a second column. Level off the edges with your utility knife if they are uneven. Cover the columns with the rest of your wrapping paper and glue ribbon pieces to cover the edges.
- 7). Hot glue one of the columns to the center of the base square, and then hot glue the 12-by-12-inch square on top of the column. Hot glue the other column to the center of the 12-by-12-inch square and then cap off the stand by hot gluing the final 7-by-7-inch square to the top of the second column.
