An energy surge may last for only a few millionths of a second, but during that brief time, thousands of v flow your houses electric system, cooking circuit boards in your fridge or micro-wave, failing computer difficult disks, and harmful home-theater systems.

Look for any energy remove design system to satisfy UL1449 2.5 version and any entire house model to satisfy UL1449 3rd version.
Has a clamping present of 400 v or less, the lower the clamping present the better the security. Protects all three inbound lines: hot, impartial, and floor. Look for "L-N, L-G, N-G" (line to impartial, range to floor, impartial to ground).
Has joule rating of 750 joules or more. Whole house systems and surge pieces can get broken by rises without you knowing it has done its job and saved your equipment. Make sure any system you purchase has signal lighting or better yet prevents functioning when their tours are broken by an increase.
