Skagit County is in northwestern Washington state, located between the Puget Sound on the west and the Cascade Mountains on the east. The Skagit River flows through the county and contains healthy populations of all five salmon species, as well as steelhead and cutthroat trout. It is a popular destination for fishermen, and several fly-fishing clubs exist in and around Skagit County. - Fidalgo Fly Fishers is headquartered in Anacortes, Washington. This nonprofit club is affiliated with the Federation of Fly Fishers, and is concerned with educating and promoting the sport of fly-fishing on the Skagit River and its watershed. They encourage a "catch and release" policy and work with local wildlife agencies to protect and restore the local salmon and steelhead populations.
