How to Connect a Trailer to a Hitch
- 1). Open tongue latch on trailer. If the trailer has a handjack, make sure the tongue is just above the hitch ball of the vehicle.
- 2). Back the vehicle underneath the trailer tongue, or if possible, manually maneuver the trailer tongue over the hitch ball.
- 3). Lower the trailer tongue with the handjack onto the hitchball once the trailer tongue is in position. When this is complete, all the weight will be removed from the handjack.
- 4). Close and secure tongue latch.
- 5). Attach both safety chains from the trailer tongue to the vehicle.
- 6). Connect trailer wiring to the supplied wiring harness of the vehicle and test brake lights, turn signals and parking lights.
