- 1). Park the Xterra on a level surface and disconnect the Nissan's negative battery cable with a socket wrench.
- 2). Reach under the left-side of the rear bumper and locate the trailer light connection to the left of the license plate. Remove the cover from the opening of the connection.
- 3). Connect the trailer light's wiring harness to the electrical connection. If necessary, install a 4-pin adapter to make your trailer lights compatible with the Xterra.
- 4). Reconnect the battery and test the trailer lights. If they are not functioning properly, check that the connection is secured and try again.
