How to Repair a Diskette in Windows XP
- 1). Insert the diskette into the computer's diskette drive. Click the "Start" menu, then select "My Computer."
- 2). Right-click on the floppy diskette icon, then select the "Format" option from the context menu. This brings up the format dialog box.
- 3). Choose the disk capacity and file system. The normal settings are 1.44MB capacity and FAT file system. Unless a label on the diskette suggests you do otherwise, leave these on the default settings.
- 4). Click the "Volume Label" box and type in a name for the diskette. Select the "Quick Format" option only if the diskette has been formatted correctly in the past.
- 5). Click the "Start" button, then click "OK" on the warning message to confirm formatting. Wait for the computer to format the diskette, then click the "Close" button when finished.
