Contact Cement

• 1). Cut the carpet for your speaker down to size. To measure the pieces needed, hold the carpet up to the speaker box and cut a piece for the bottom, top, back and sides with a utility knife, making each piece slightly larger than the side of the box. You can also wrap the carpet around the box from the edge of one side to the front edge of the opposite side, so it wraps around the box in one long piece. Trim that piece to size and then cut additional pieces for the top and bottom.
  
  
• 2). Apply contact cement to the back and sides of the speaker with an applicator brush if you have one long piece to wrap around the box. If you have separate pieces for each side, apply contact cement to one panel at a time.
  
  
• 3). Brush contact cement onto the piece of carpet you want to attach to a speaker panel. Make sure to apply cement onto the panel as well. Press the carpet into place and hold for 10 seconds. Be very careful to line the carpet up correctly when pressing it into place. Contact cement bonds very quickly.
  
  
• 4). Attach the remaining pieces of the carpeting to the speaker using the same method. Brush contact cement onto the box, then brush it onto the carpet backing. Press it into place.
  
  

Spray Adhesive

• 1). Trim several pieces of carpeting so you have carpet for the top, bottom, back and side panels of the speaker. Hold the carpet up to the speaker box to measure the amount needed and cut it with a utility knife.
  
  
• 2). Cover the panel on the speaker box you want to carpet with a spray adhesive. When spraying near the front of the speaker, hold a piece of scrap fabric over the speaker screen to prevent adhesive from clogging it.
  
  
• 3). Spray the back of the carpet you want to place on the panel. Press the carpet onto the speaker box and hold it into place for approximately 1 minute.
