?Secret Obsession

While on the rebound from Will, Gabi took a job at Quinn's spa and began modeling for Countess Wilhelmina. She also began obsessing over her ex, Chad. She tried to divert his attention away from his girlfriend, ?Melanie Jonas, to no avail. So Gabi concocted a story about having a stalker, who was following her and sending her threatening messages.

Worried about Gabi’s safety, Chad insisted she move in with him, so he could protect her.

When Abigail started asking Gabi questions about her "stalker," Gabi realized she had to step up her game. She hired Andrew, a photographer she’d worked with previously, to pretend he was the culprit. Then, she orchestrated that he "attack" her in public, just as Chad arrived on the scene.

Gabi’s plan worked like a charm, convincing Chad, Melanie and ?Abigail that she was indeed in danger. However, Andrew began taking things too far. He even planted a rat in Gabi's food. When Gabi asked him to back off, he refused.

?Stalking Disaster

Andrew took things a step further, when he kidnapped Melanie and held her captive in his basement. Eventually, Gabi found out what he’d done and was horrified. When Andrew promised to release Melanie, as soon as Gabi won Chad over, Gabi agreed to keep mum.

The plan went haywire, however, when Andrew sent Chad a text from Melanie's phone, saying she'd gone to Europe to visit her mother, Carly. Chad grew suspicious, when Melanie didn’t return his calls. Upon phoning Carly, he learned Melanie wasn’t in Europe.

Chad reported Melanie missing and the Salem PD began investigating her disappearance.

When the cops tracked Melanie to Andrew, Gabi raced to warn him and he took Melanie to the tunnels beneath Salem. Meanwhile, the cops arrived at Andrew’s house and found Gabi, who faked that she’d been drugged. They assumed Gabi was one of Andrew's victims, too.

Ultimately, Melanie was able to get hold of Andrew's phone and called Chad. Gabi urged Chad to go search for Melanie, promising she would phone the police. Instead, after Chad left, Gabi went looking for Andrew. As fate would have it, Gabi found Melanie and Andrew, first. Then, just as Andrew was about to reveal Gabi's involvement in the whole scheme, there was a huge explosion in the tunnels.

Major Mistake

Melanie and Gabi were eventually found by Chad and Brady, and the foursome made their way out of the tunnels safely. Later, at the hospital, Gabi was stunned when a critically injured Andrew was wheeled in on a stretcher. With his final breath, Andrew warned Gabi that Chad would find out what she did and he was dead on. To Gabi’s horror, Chad overheard every word of their chat.

Chad chastised Gabi for what she’d done and promised to make her life a living hell as payback. Down, out and petrified, Gabi met up with Will, who was having a difficult time coming to terms with his sexuality and had just had a run in with T. The twosome consoled one another. One thing led to another, and ?Gabi and Will ended up having sex.

The next morning, the pair both realized they’d made a mistake. They decided to put what happened behind them and move on at what they were best at: being friends.

Turning the Tables

Gabi did her best fending off Chad, who constantly held the threat of turning her in to the police over her heard. She found an ally in Nick Fallon, when he got of jail and began working at the Brady Pub. As they became friends, Gabi confided her misdeeds to Nick. Soon, the pair began dating, which infuriated Chad, who knew Nick had kidnapped and stalked Melanie, years earlier.

One night, Chad went off the deep end and assaulted Nick, wrongly believing he had hurt Melanie. Gabi broke things up and took Nick to the hospital. Afterward, Nick used the attack to his advantage. He promised he wouldn’t go to the police and press charges against Chad, if Chad stopped harassing Gabi and promised not to ever tell the cops about Gabi's involvement in Melanie's kidnapping. Chad begrudgingly agreed, and Gabi was forever thankful to Nick.
