For travelers on a budget and planning a trip to the state of New York, several hotels do not require reservations in advance and won't break the budget. • Motel 6 has nearly a dozen locations throughout the state of New York, with prices varying by location. While some Motel 6 hotels have prices that can be between $100 and $200 a night like ones near Niagra Falls, New York, others like Albany's Motel 6 features rooms for less than $50 a night. Motel 6 Albany does not require reservations, so travelers making last-minute plans can either call ahead or stop by while on the road. Amenities at the hotel include free local calls, coffee and cable, as well as wireless Internet for a daily fee. Motel 6 also is pet-friendly at no additional expense to the guest. The hotel is located about six miles from the Albany airport, as well as near attractions such as the Ella Sharp Park Museum, Pepsi Arena and the Saratoga Harness Track.

• If saving costs is a concern, rather than stay at the Super 8 location in Niagara Falls where room prices can run between $200 and $300, visitors to the northern tip of New York state can head east about 55 miles and stay in Batavia, where room prices fall under $100 a night. Batavia is also near other upstate New York attractions, including Darien Lake Theme Park, located 11 miles away, and Niagara Falls and Casino, which is 35 miles from Super 8 Batavia. Guests can choose between king rooms or double bed rooms, with other amenities include free breakfast, wireless Internet, coffee, room service and cable television.

• Visitors to New York City may be overwhelmed by the high costs of renting a hotel room. However, located about 78 miles northwest of the Big Apple is Port Jervis, New York, where a hotel room at Days Inn can run less than $100 a night. With mountains in the background, Days Inn Port Jervis is near several outdoor activities including rafting along the Delaware River, High Point State Park and Milford Beach.
