How to Restore Oracle Database to Incarnation
- 1). Click "Start," "All Programs" and double-click "Oracle Instant Client Tools." Log in with your DBA username and password.
- 2). Type "rman server SYS/oracle@server DATABASE" into the command prompt and press "Enter." Replace "Server" with the name of the server you want to connect to and restore.
- 3). Type "List Incarnation" and press "Enter." You will see a display of the database name, ID and reset time including the incarnation date such as "15-JAN-10."
- 4). Click "Start," "All Programs" and double-click "Oracle Recovery Manager."
- 5). Type in your DBA username and password when prompted and press "Enter."
- 6). Type "Recover" into the command line and press "Enter" to initiate the recovery mode. Type "Database" and replace it with the name of the database you want to restore and press "Enter."
- 7). Type "To Restore Point" and press "Enter." Type in the incarnation date you retrieved from "Step 3" such as "15-JAN-10" and press "Enter." Your Oracle database will be completely restored to incarnation.
