How to Tie Fishing Sinkers
- 1). Select a location on your line where a weight with an attached eye should be anchored. The location should allow the weight to submerge the line and lure or bait to a level where fish are active and still be located sufficient distance from the bait or lure to not discourage fish from biting.
- 2). Tie an improved clinch knot. Pass the free end of the line through the eye attached to the weight. The amount of line extending past the eye of the weight will be determined by the placement on the line.
- 3). Wrap the tag end of the line around the main line five or six times forming a small loop above the eye of the weight. Bring the tag end down and feed it through the small loop formed in the line just above the eye of the weight.
- 4). Pull the line through the small loop but do not tighten. Feed the tag end through the larger loop to the side of the knot that was formed when the tag end was pulled down to pass through the small loop. Pull the line through the larger loop, moisten slightly and pull down tight against the eye of the weight.
- 5). Attach a lure or hook to the tag end of the line with another improved clinch knot.
