Celebrate the Fourth of July in Takoma Park
The Takoma Park, Maryland community celebrates the Fourth of July with a full day of events including an Independence Day Parade, musical entertainment and a spectacular fireworks display. Independence Day Parade
Date: July 4, 2015
Time: 10:00 a.m.
No rain date.
Parade Route: The parade kicks off at Carroll & Ethan Allen Ave., proceeds south along Carroll Avenue to Maple Avenue, then turns right on Maple Avenue and ends at Sherman Avenue.
Shady Viewing Areas: The shady areas along the route will be the most crowded. You'll find shade along Carroll Avenue between Philadelphia Avenue and Tulip Avenue and along Maple Avenue between Carroll Street and Sherman Avenue.
Parking and Street Closures: Street parking is available wherever you can find it. The streets surrounding Ethan Allen Avenue and Carroll Avenue, including Manor Circle, Grant Avenue, Lee Avenue, Sherman Avenue, and Boyd Avenue will be closed off for the parade. Public transportation is recommended. The Takoma Park metro station is just one block from the start of the parade.
Food: Most of the vendors are located in Memorial Park at the corner of Maple Avenue and Philadelphia Avenue.
Concert and Fireworks
Schedule: The evening events begin at 7:30 p.m. with a welcome from the mayor and a patriotic concert.
Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Rain date: First clear evening.
Location: Takoma Park Middle School, 7611 Piney Branch Road.
Parking: Limited to the side streets, so you should arrive early and expect to walk a few blocks.
Food: Most of vendors are located in Memorial Park at the corner of Maple Avenue and Philadelphia Avenue.
