New Orleans, often called the most unique city in America, attracts tourists from all over the world who come to see its unique French architecture, try its Cajun cuisine, listen to its jazz music and explore its multicultural heritage. A streetcar tour is a fun and easy way to get around the city and see its most sought-after sights. - The St. Charles Streetcar Line is the world's oldest continuously operating streetcar, moving around the city for more than 150 years. The streetcar travels a 13.2-mile crescent-shaped route from Carondelet at Canal Street, located in the Central Business District, moving through the oldest section of uptown New Orleans and going around the Riverbend to Carrollton at Claiborne Avenue. As it passes along St. Charles Avenue through a tunnel, passengers will have a view of the historic mansions and monuments, Loyola and Tulane universities, the Audubon Zoological Gardens, shopping centers, hotels and restaurants.
- The new Canal Streetcar Line carries thousands of passengers, locals and tourists alike, every day along its five-and-a-half-mile route which goes from the French Market, along Canal Street through the Central Business District of New Orleans, and then into the Mid-City area, terminating at City Park Avenue, which features historic cemeteries.
On a branch line, which travels along North Carrollton Avenue, passengers have a terrific view of a 1,500-acre area with old oak trees, a botanical garden, a quaint village and many attractions for the family. The last stop is the New Orleans Museum of Art, where passengers can visit the Sydney and Walda Bestoff Sculpture Garden.
The streetcar is air-conditioned and compliant with the ADA (American with Disabilities Act).
