    • 1). Make sure that you or your pet is infected with hookworms before you begin to treat them. Some of the symptoms of hookworms include a slight fever, pain in the stomach area, and coughing or wheezing caused by hookworm larvae. The doctor is the best person to make a positive diagnosis of hookworm infection.

    • 2). Give some food grade diatomaceous earth to you pets if they have hookworms. This goes right into the digestive system and kills the hookworms. It also doesn't get digested, so it will not harm your pet. Give 1 to 2 tbsp. to dogs, 1/2 tbsp. to puppies and kittens, and 1 tbsp. to cats.

    • 3). Add more garlic to your meals. The more garlic the better, as you want to get as much allicin into your body. Allicin comes from garlic and is known to treat many type of worm infections, including hookworms.

    • 4). If your case of hookworm is very bad, consider consuming some diatomaceous earth, as well. About 1 to 2 tbsp. will do.
