What"s The Difference Between Oreos And Weetabix?
Hi everyone, So...
what is the difference between Oreo cookies and Weetabix? At last count it was 21,714,179...
Not sure what I'm talking about? That's the difference in Facebook fan page likes these two brands have.
Oreo's have a massive 'following' on Facebook, where as Weetabix does not (13,000 at last count vs approx 22 million for Oreo's!) So how can Weetabix get it so wrong? When Facebook started out, it was more of a personal profile website than a business tool.
However, over the past two years that view has changed completely.
For marketers and business owners alike, Facebook has now become an essential marketing and branding tool.
Marketing one's business used to revolve around talking at customers, but in today's social media saturated world, it's now about talking and interacting with them.
Tim and myself are learning there are right and wrong ways to encourage interaction from visitors to turn them into fans, to ultimately turn fans into lifetime customers.
Good content is essential.
If your posts tend to be fairly dull, it will encourage little to no interaction with your fans.
However, if your posts are intriguing, congruent and actually ask for feedback/participation, more and more people are going to become aware of your brand...
which in the online marketing world is you! Just imagine a that if you give people a reason to stick around your page, they will share this content with their friends as well, triggering a viral effect.
Then you get more fans, for no additional work or cost...
Unique content is also key to gaining more fans on your Facebook page.
People will visit a page if they know they can get information that they can't obtain elsewhere, and it works for all kinds of businesses.
Whether it be a voucher off a pizza, stay 3 nights for the price of 2 in a hotel, or hear about the latest offer from Tim and Jonathan...
only joking on the last part...
kind of! Also, don't be afraid to be interesting.
This will make your posts more 'sticky'-where people will comment, like and share your posts, increasing your chances of your content appearing in their news feed in the future.
Where you spend your time on Facebook is also key-it should be shared 50/50 with addingand sharing content on your own page, and doing the same with other pages too.
This way, people will see you are an authoritative figure, and should be listened to, and will go to your page as a result.
Note-always 'switch' to your page when making any contributions to Facebook walls.
That way people will be able to click on your name and be re-directed to your page when they see your comments.
Hope this helps Until next time Jonathan
