The Lions Club

• Most Lions Club chapters throughout the nation have programs to collect used eyeglasses. In Mechanicsburg, the club's Camp Lion chapter handles this task. Eyeglasses can be dropped off at The Kilmore Eye Associates Optical Department (kilmoreeye.com) at 890 Century Drive. Look for the donation box to the right after you go in the front door.
  
  

Optometrist Offices

• Many optometrists' offices take old glasses so the lenses may be reground and the frames given to those with modest incomes. If you are a patient of an optometrist in the Mechanicsburg area, ask if he provides this service. Be sure to obtain a receipt that can be used for tax purposes.
  
  

Goodwill

• The Mechanicsburg chapter of Goodwill takes donated eyeglasses and will also write a receipt for tax purposes. Eyeglasses can be dropped off at the store at 701 West Simpson Street in Mechanicsburg. Make sure the eyeglasses are clean, and if possible, include the case.
  
  

Salvation Army

• Eyeglasses can be dropped off at the Camp Hill chapter of the Salvation Army, which is within 15 minutes of Mechanicsburg, at 3901 East Trindle Road in Camp Hill. Again, receipts are given for tax purposes.
