Forrest Griffin"s Be Ready When the Sh*t Goes Down Book Review
Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Forrest Griffin is convinced the apocalypse is coming. In Be Ready When the Shi*t Goes Down: A Survival Guide to the Apocalypse, he and Erich Krauss hope to get you ready for just such a circumstance.
Well, not really. Rather, the real attempt here is to get you to laugh, which both do with flying colors. Sure there is some real advice in this book that would actually help, but the majority of Griffin's work is simply designed to make you shake your head and ask did he really just write that?
Yes, he did folks.

The Best Parts
Some pretty outlandish humor. Griffin believes that surviving the apocalypse is one of the most manly things one can do in a world where real men have nearly disappeared. Heck, people need to call their fathers to fix stuff around the house these days.
Griffin also really gets you thinking about things you'll need for the apocalypse- you know, the basics. For example, have you built a fallout shelter with a prison to lock up annoying family members? Do you have at least one sexual party favor in your go bag? Have you learned to milk various types of animals, including a giraffe? Yep, absolutely crazy stuff.
That said, there were some actual survival tips in there. For example, beyond some of the actual contents of a go bag, most experts might say it was a good idea to have one.
Griffin also seems to understand weapons usage to an extent (disclaimer- try nothing he said or demonstrated at home- it may be completely wrong).
Let's put it this way: If you don't laugh out loud while reading Be Ready When the Sh*t Goes Down, you probably don't have a pulse.
Heed This Advice
This book is not for everyone. In other words, if you don't find all types of bathroom humor funny, you may want to walk away. Also, if you don't think hitting on the topic of bestiality is going to make you laugh, turn the other cheek to this book. p> But if you like shocking and timely humor with sick twists, this one is probably for you.
The Final Word
When you buy a book like Be Ready When the Sh*t Goes Down: A Survival Guide to the Apocalypse, you're hoping to laugh. Forrest Griffin and Erich Krauss definitely come through in getting you to do that with their book. If you like the kind of humor that you know you should stop reading- that even Forrest Griffin's mother knows you should stop reading- this book is for you.
In the end, it's just funny.
