Eating on the Go - Healthy Fast Food

103 18
Is it really true there is such a thing as healthy fast food? If you look through the menu items of any fast food restaurant, you may be surprised to discover there are more than a few healthy items to select from.
In fact, the actual number of healthy fast food choices may surprise you.
The problem is these healthy food choices are somewhat buried under the vast array of unhealthy choices that comprise 90% of the menu.
Don't worry - here are a few tips that help ensure that when you are eating on the go your diet remains a healthy one.
Cut Out the Calorie Laden Beverages The first step is to make eating out at a fast food place a lot healthier entails taking a zero tolerance policy towards sugary beverages.
This includes sodas, juice drinks, sugar loaded coffee drinks, and sweetened tea.
Liquid sugar calories do little more than pack on fat.
Instead, drink water.
You probably need more of it in your diet anyways and your waistline will definitely thank you for it.
Opt for a Lean Meat as Your Main Dish Now for your main selection you are going to want to pick a lean meat.
This does not include fried meats or meats loaded with fat such as salami, fatty burgers, or fried chicken or fried fish.
Instead opt for lean cuts or grilled meats such as roast beef, chicken breast, or turkey breast.
Most fast food restaurants will offer sandwiches with these options available.
Pick the Right Sides Now this next tip may seem a little cruel but you need to tone down the French fries eating.
I know who doesn't love some tasty fries.
But again they are fried and loaded with grease and fat.
Once in a while, fries are fine, but just don't make them a staple in your diet.
Instead opt for the side of fruit, veggies, or a side salad.
A Salad Can Be Great Idea...
Usually
And lastly, salads can be a great meal most of the time.
It all really depends on what you put on the salad.
If you're going to eat a salad stay away from the fatty salad dressings, bacon bits, fried meats, or other fatty toppings that turn a "healthy" salad into nothing better than the cheeseburger and fries.
Instead, load up on veggies, grilled meats, and a light dressing such as vinaigrette to keep the salad on the lighter side.
So hopefully these eating on the go tips can help you to drop the extra pounds and stay healthy when you can't pack your lunch or when you are on the road.
