    • 1). Download an application that allows you to covert 720p Blu-ray videos to 480p DVD format. Programs such as AVS Video Converter, AVCWare Blu Ray Ripper and Bluray Ripper are relatively simple to use utilities that rip Blu-ray videos from movie discs and convert them to various formats, including 480p MPEG2 used for commercial DVD discs. Save the program installation file on your computer.

    • 2). Purchase a license key or code if you intend to use the application longer than the free trial period.

    • 3). Click “Start,” then “Computer.” Open the folder where you saved the Blu-ray ripping and conversion program. Double-click the file to launch the installer. Accept the License Agreement and enter the license key if prompted. Alternatively, leave the license key field blank if you only want to evaluate the ripping and conversion program for the duration of the free trial period.

    • 4). Accept the default installation folder and other setup parameters for the ripping and conversion program. Follow the remaining prompts and click “OK” or “Finish” when prompted to complete the installation of the ripping application. Restart your computer if prompted.

    • 5). Insert the Blu-ray movie disc you want to convert to standard DVD format into the DVD burner driver of your computer. If the Windows AutoPlay dialog box appears, click the “X” in the upper right-hand corner to close it.

    • 6). Launch the Blu-ray ripping and conversion application on your computer. Click the “Browse” or “Source” button. After the file browser window opens, double-click the drive letter for the DVD drive of your computer.

    • 7). Double-click the “BDMV” folder, then the “STREAM” folder. Highlight all of the files in the “STREAM” folder and click “Open.”

    • 8). Click and select “DVD” as the output type on the “Output Format” or “Converted File” drop-down list or toolbar. If the application does not set DVD encoding parameters automatically -- most programs do – use drop-down list boxes to set the following video output options in the ripping and conversion program: Resolution or Frame Size - 720 x 480; Bitrate – 9400; Frame Rate – 29.97 fps.

    • 9). Use the drop-down list options in the Audio section of the “Output File” or “Converted File” section to select the following settings: Audio Codec – MP2; Sample Rate – 48000 Hz; Size – 16 bit; Bitrate 256 kbps; Channels – Stereo or Surround.
