Metal Gear Solid 4 Won't Install
- 1). Delete the game data. If "Metal Gear Solid 4" was partially installed, the existing game data may interfere with future installation attempts. Go to "Game" on the XMB dashboard and select "Game Data Utility." Scroll through the game data until you find MGS4, highlight it and press the "Triangle" button. Highlight and select "Delete" and confirm that you wish to delete by clicking "OK." Reload the disc and try installing again.
- 2). Clean the game disc. Dust and smudges can prevent a game from being installed to your PlayStation 3. Inspect the back of the disc for any smudges or dust and wipe with a clean, lint-free cloth. When wiping, start at the center of the disc and wipe in a straight line to the outer edge of the disc. Avoid wiping in a circular motion as this may create scratches on the disc's surface.
- 3). Restore your PS3's default settings. Changing settings on your PS3 may interfere with game installation. To revert to the default settings, go to the "Settings" menu on the XMB dashboard. Select "System Settings" and go to "Restore Default Settings." You will see a list of the settings that will be restored. Press "X" to confirm that you wish to proceed. When the process is complete, the PS3 will restart and you will need to enter the time and date before attempting to install the game.
