That is well and good for people who are interested in the evolution of the various handsets and what manufacturers are doing.
The problem is that many of these reviews exclude "everyman/everywoman," who simply wants to choose a phone that suits his lifestyle and pocket, and will continue to do so for a while.
I don't claim to be everywoman, mostly because there is a frightening possibility that she knows more about cellphone handsets than I do.
[The business of providing cellphone services is my writing specialty, not the tech of the handset itself).
But I do think is that the ordinary consumer does not really care whether the new phone is an iPhone killer or not, or how well it competes with some Nokia, HTC or Blackberry edition.
What he/she wants to know is: 1.
Longevity of investment
- Can this phone do what I need it to do for the next year or two without looking old and dated? 2.
Will it deliver basic functionality
- Can I make and receive calls, send text messages and multimedia messages? 3.
Long
Battery life - How much battery life /talk time do I have? If I'm constantly on the road, am I assured of at least 4-6hours of talk time? 4.
Is it easy to use
- It's no use buying a complicated devise because the consumer ends up under-using it.
The idea is that the cellphone serve as an easy to use tool, so the owner spends more time accomplishing her goals rather than trying to learn the intricacies of the phone.
5.
How powerful is the camera?
Good enough to snap pictures and send clear pictures to friends and family and post on my blog? 6.
Does it have a calendar/scheduler- C
an I link the mobile scheduler to the electronic diary on my laptop, so can I do meeting requests with family and friends and coordinate schedules form whatever devise is accessible at the time? 7.
Do I get internet access - Is the phone WiFi or 3G enabled? This is especially useful as an backup connection, or an in-hand connection when traveling/in meetings/while waiting at airports/while attending conferences.
