About Sciatica and Relief in Chiropractic
Do you have radiating leg pain or intense low back pain? This could be caused by your sciatic nerve.
Avoid surgery and come visit a chiropractor instead! Sciatic pain occurs in two different situations.
First the discs in L4 or L5 of the spine could be compressed.
The sciatic nerve begins in the L4, L5 region and when the spine is misaligned this pushes against the nerve causing serious pain in the low back, buttocks region.
A chiropractic treatment will realign the spine relieving the tension.
In some cases I use other therapies along with the adjustment to cure sciatic pain such as ice packs to reduce inflammation, electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) or ultrasound.
A second cause of sciatica is when the piriformis muscle is contracted.
The piriformis is a large muscle that runs from the pelvic region down the side of the leg.
The sciatic nerve runs through the piriformis muscle.
When the piriformis muscle is contracted this pushes against the nerve.
I can teach you simple stretching will loosen the piriformis muscle taking the pressure off the sciatic nerve.
Once the pain is relieved, regular chiropractic treatments will keep the spine aligned restore muscle strength to prevent further sciatic pain.
The day "Uncle" Willie came in he was doubled over, barely able to walk.
In my office we talked about his sciatic pain that he had lived with for a while.
But finally it became unbearable.
Each movement brought him intense pain.
After two months of chiropractic treatment Uncle Willie could stand up straight again and was living a pain-free life.
