How to Make a Burlesque Poster
- 1). Research burlesque posters from past decades to get an idea of the style.
- 2). Create a title for the poster that includes the word "burlesque." Include the time, date and venue directly beneath the title if the poster is for a particular performance. Use a non-standard font -- sites such as dafont.com have free burlesque fonts.
- 3). Draw or ask someone to draw a scantily clad woman (or man) in the center of the paper. Burlesque is about tease, so avoid showing too much flesh. The images used in burlesque posters are traditionally drawings rather than photographs.
- 4). Color the poster with typical burlesque colors such as red, purple and black. Deep, rich colors suggest sumptuousness and passion. Pastel colors on the other hand, suggest innocence and whimsy.
