The Stress of a New Baby

103 44
A new mother tends to find herself overwhelmed when her life is completely turned upside down.
Though having a new baby is exciting and one of the most joyful events any parent can go through, when you first bring your new baby home you may find that the stress of caring for a newborn is a lot more overwhelming than your parenting books let on.
Though the newborn baby stress feels permanent, just know that this is just an adjustment phase that every new parent will go through.
Once your baby and you have worked out a routine, you will find that you are back on track with your life, but things will never be the same.
Motherhood is all about revising your plans and revamping your life to adjust to caring for your child and that will go on until your child is well into their teenage years.
Until that time comes, however, here are a few tips to help you get through that overwhelming feeling: Getting Out - No matter how busy or tired you are, get out of the house at least once a day.
You can make it as simple as a walk up and down the street, but get out.
Be Realistic - Be realistic about what you can accomplish those first few weeks.
Though you think you can start cleaning the house, making dinner, etc, try something simpler like taking a shower each day and wait until you master that.
Give You Time - Even though when your baby is asleep it can be tempting to clean the house, try relaxing instead.
Sit down and read or take a nap yourself, but take some "you time".
Redo Your Priorities - Realize that while you are caring for your baby, you are going to have to change your priorities, which means being a neat freak may not work out so much with your new baby at the moment.
