Social Media Marketing - The Importance of Being Interesting

103 11
Social media marketing is a lot of fun.
Not only that it definitely can be profitable.
If done correctly.
You can literally spend hours twittering your life away.
Maybe you make lots of friends, get lots of followers and build a few relationships.
But are you making any money? Here are a few proven methods to having fun with social media and also making money.
1) Be Interesting.
It's a no-brainer really.
If you're boring and undesirable nobody is going to pay any attention to you.
Let alone give you any money.
Let your personality shine through.
Put a real photo of yourself in your profiles, don't hide behind the company logo.
Remember the old saying "People buy from people, not companies".
Talk about things of interest to you.
Post that you are a baseball fan and that your favorite place in the world is Paris.
Once people get to know you, they start to like you then trust.
Then if you provide something of value they will give you money.
Maybe what you sell is just a boring old widget but you can make it more desirable through your personality and being unique.
You want to rise above all the other widget merchants out there and by doing so attract more customers and increase profits.
2) Be Interested.
Note the difference in words.
To build profitable relationships in the real world you need to be genuinely interested in the other party.
This definitely applies to social media marketing.
If you're virtually yawning at and ignoring your followers, they're going to ignore you and not give you any attention.
Relationships are a two way street.
Show some interest in your followers and they will do the same for you.
You can do this by asking questions of your followers.
Interact through comments and blog posts.
Reply to people on twitter when they mention you.
Above all be genuine.
Make your interactions mean something.
A comment such as "nice blog" means even less than not commenting at all.
Take these two ideas and apply them to your social media marketing.
The benefits you will receive will be priceless.
