How to Use Spreadsheets as Calendars
- 1). Click "Tools" then "Options." Click the "General" tab. Change the "Sheets in new workbook:" number to "12," then click the "New" icon (white page with top right corner turned over) to start a new workbook with 12 tabs.
- 2). Double-click the "Sheet 1" tab and type "January." Double-click the "Sheet 2" tab and type "February" and so on to "December."
- 3). Click in cell A1 of the January sheet. Type "1st" (without the quotation marks). Move the pointer to the bottom right corner of cell A1, and the pointer icon changes from a 3-D-plus symbol to a 2-D-plus symbol. Click to grab the fill handle and, keeping hold of it, slide the pointer down column A to cell A31. Release the mouse button and the column will now have 1st through 31st entered.
- 4). Click the February tab and proceed as in Step 3, sliding the pointer down column A to cell A29 (to allow for leap years). Follow the same procedure for all months.
- 5). Click "File," then "Save As." Click the down arrow next to "Save as type:" and click "Template." Enter the file name "Calendar blank," then click the "Save" button. Now you will be able to start a new calendar every year by using your "Calendar blank" template.
- 6). Click "File," then "Save As." Click the down arrow next to "Save as type:" and choose "Microsoft Office Excel Workbook." Enter the year -- e.g., 2010. Navigate to where you want to keep your calendar and click "Save" button. The calendar is now ready for personalized entries.
