    Don't Rush Changes

    • In the first few weeks after your baby is born, most of the baby's routine is made up of sleeping, eating and bathing. Develop a routine for a three-month-old that includes fun activities and learning opportunities, but introduce these changes slowly so that the baby does not become frustrated, scared or confused by constantly changing situations.

      Do not add many new activities at the same. Overwhelming a three-month-old with a half dozen new things to do each day all at once will merely disrupt the child's day. Instead, add one or two changes to your developing routine each week and allow the baby to adapt before doing more.

    Solo Playtime

    • Everyone needs a little "me" time -- even a three-month-old baby. While you can't just leave a child this young unattended, you can back off a bit and allow him to play alone while you are doing something else.

      Place your baby in a bouncer or baby swing while you prepare lunch or dinner. Keep an eye on the little one, but leave him to enjoy some freedom from the parents for a few minutes at the same time each day. Limit this playtime, or else the baby will begin to get bored. Boredom often leads to fussiness, false hunger and a desire to sleep that may disrupt the baby's and parents' schedule, according to Extension.com.

    Meals

    • Babies tend to develop a feeding schedule quickly. Meals will become larger and less frequent as they get older, but you will still see tell-tale signs of hunger and you will likely learn to predict when the baby is going to need nourishment.

      Feed your baby at the same times each day once you recognize his eating patterns. Try not to feed the baby at your convenience, but stick to the baby's routine firmly to ensure you are not asking him to eat when he is not hungry or are causing him to be hungry too long.

    Together Time

    • Set aside a specific time for you and your three-month-old to enjoy a learning activity together every day. This time should be scheduled and adhered to each day at about the same time. Make sure you set aside time that will not be interfered with by another busy activity for you or the baby.

    Sleep

    • At three months old, a baby will often sleep for 15 hours out of every 24, according to KidsHealth.org.

      Put your baby down for naps two or three times during the day at the same time. As with all daily activities, sleeping should be consistent. You cannot control how long your baby sleeps during each nap, but you will be surprised how predictable it becomes if you remain true to your nap schedule.

      Put your baby to bed after the last feeding of the day. Expect a three-month-old to remain asleep for six to seven hours at night, allowing you and your spouse to enjoy a normal night's sleep.
