- 1). Right-click on the task located on the taskbar and select "Close." If there are too many tasks open at once, they will be combined into a group. For instance, if you are running Internet Explorer and have 10 windows up at once, then all those tasks will be grouped together under one name. In that case, right-click on the task and select "Close group." If the task refuses to close, continue below.
- 2). Right click on the toolbar and select "Task Manager."
- 3). Select the "Applications" tab in the task manager.
- 4). Click on the program you want to close and then select "End Task" at the bottom of the screen.
