Gourmet Food Wherever, Whenever You Want It

105 2
We've all done it at some point, it's late, you haven't time to cook and you need something to eat so you dial out and order. Fine if you've got cash with you or the delivery service takes cheques, (and who takes cheques these days?)
And what if you wanted gourmet cuisine as opposed to a delicious yet ordinary Chinese or Indian takeaway meal? You're in a bind, you have champagne tastes with hardly a lemonade budget. But things may soon all change.
In the Philippines the Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) are offering a credit card which allows its users to phone up a single number and order, not just takeaways but fine dining establishments, place an order for which they can pay with their cards over the 'phone and have the food delivered to their home. RCBC call this 'Dining On Demand.'
The service is currently only available to RCBC customers residing in the city of Manila, all the customer needs do is call their customer service number and select the Dining On Demand option and then simply order from any of the menus that area available from restaurants who are part of the programme. The food is then delivered to a location of your choice. Provided you know what you want when you call the whole process should simply take a matter of moments, dial the number, chose the dining option, place the order and where you want it delivered, punch in your credit card number and shortly afterward you'll have freshly prepared gourmet meals delivered to your hungry hands.
While the operation only covers Manila at the moment, home diners are able to choose from more then 200 establishments, some you'd naturally associate with takeaway and fast food, some that you would not.
While the bank itself is based in the Philippines it has remittance centres throughout Europe and North America, the Mid East and of course the rest of Asia so if the idea catches on there is no reason why they shouldn't roll the dinner service out to their customers and affiliates world-wide.
But just how 'anywhere' could you have the deliveries made? Were I a romantic kind of guy, and some say I am, I might like to take a date on a walk by a lake. Imagine we decide we'd like a picnic:
"No problem," I say. "What sort of thing would you like?"
"Lobster!" she squeals.
Lobster it is, delivered hot and fresh to a park bench. Now if they can provide THAT kind of delivery service, sign me up!
