How to Set Up Sympatico Email on Windows Mobile

    • 1). Tap the "Start" button on the Windows Mobile device, then tap "Messaging."

    • 2). Tap the "Menu" button at the bottom of the screen, then tap "Tools" and "New Account."

    • 3). Enter your full email address, ending in "@sympatico.ca". Tap "Next." Windows Mobile will attempt to discover your email server settings automatically. Tap "Next" again.

    • 4). Enter your name as you would like it to be displayed on messages that you send.

    • 5). Enter your full email address in the box labeled "User Name," then enter your password. Place a check in the box labeled "Save Password" to avoid needing to enter your password each time you check your messages. Tap "Next."

    • 6). Select "POP3" in the "Account Type" drop-down menu, then enter a name that you would like to use to identify the address on your Windows Mobile device. By default, "Sympatico.ca" is entered automatically. Tap "Next."

    • 7). Enter "pophm.sympatico.ca:995" in the box labeled "Incoming Mail" and "smtphm.sympatico.ca:25" in the box labeled "Outgoing Mail." Tap "Options."

    • 8). Place a check in the box labeled "Connect and check for messages every..." if you would like to have the Windows Mobile device check for new messages automatically. If you are on a Windows Mobile phone with a limited Internet plan, you may want to leave this unchecked to conserve data usage. Tap "Next."

    • 9). Place checks in the boxes labeled "Require SSL connection" and "Outgoing mail requires authentication." Tap "Next."

      Tap the drop-down menu at the top of the window to select whether your Windows Mobile device should only download message headers to conserve bandwidth usage or download a full copy of each message.

      Tap "Finish," then tap "Yes." The Sympatico email account is configured and ready to use on the Windows Mobile device.
