- 1). Click "Start."
- 2). Type the word "MSCONFIG" into the "Search" box. Click on the single shortcut icon that appears in the search results to launch "MSCONFIG."
- 3). Click "Startup."
- 4). Clear the checked box next to the name of any Microsoft Office program that is loading automatically. If Microsoft Word is loading on start up, for example, clear the check box next to the entry for Microsoft Word.
- 5). Click "Apply" to stop your Microsoft Office utilities from loading automatically.
