For an individual with a disability, getting out into the public can be difficult and exhausting. Simple assistive tools and seating options that are easy to get to and allow a good view provide an opportunity for handicapped individuals to get out into the social lifestyle. This helps eliminate worrying about how they will use the lavatory or if they will be able to see the program they came to watch. The benefits of handicapped seating and grab bars start with the individual and end up a good pubic relations effort for the building or event.

    Safety

    • Grab bars are installed because handicapped persons and senior citizens use them to maintain balance, transfer to the toilet, and prevent falls while using the washroom facilities. They are easy to install in new and existing buildings.

    Accessibility

    • Persons with a handicap have the right to use and enjoy any public building, or be part of any public gathering, just as the able-bodied population. Grab bars and accessible seating allow persons with disabilities to be able to access and use areas they may not otherwise be able to use if this assistance were not available.

    Accommodation

    • Handicapped seating is provided for people in wheelchairs so disabled individuals are not isolated from other spectators. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, handicapped seating should be available in several locations to provide a selection of views, compared to those for the general public. This accommodation is provided to give the power of choice to potential patrons using the facility.

    Public Relations

    • The handicapped population in the U.S., according to DisabledInAction.org, is a large and growing group of people who want to stay active, be independent and remain social. Any venue that provides assistive safety bars and allows clear viewing to what is happening will definitely bring in others who are handicapped. The benefit is now for the business to enjoy as customers spread the word about comfortable accommodations there.
