- 1). Sweep or vacuum the floors thoroughly to remove all debris.
- 2). Cover the air vents and doorways in the room you will be working in with plastic sheeting and low-tack painter's tape. This will prevent the dust from entering the rest of the house. Open as many windows as possible.
- 3). Put on protective eyewear. This will prevent particles from damaging your eyes while using the grinder. Turn on the grinder while the machine is elevated off of the ground. Lower the grinder to the floor.
- 4). Use the grinder on the entire floor. Start in one corner of the floor and hold the grinder firmly on the surface of the concrete. Move the grinder slowly around the room in one direction. Working in one direction will prevent you from missing any spots. Vacuum the entire area to remove all sanding dust. Wet an old towel and wipe around the entire area to remove any small dust particles that may not have been picked up by the vacuum.
- 5). Roll a long-handled roller brush through the paint to saturate the roller. The roller should be saturated but not dripping with paint. Roll the stain onto the floor in a thin, even coat. Start with a light coat and allow the first coat to dry completely. Evaluate the color and apply additional coats as needed.
- 6). Brush on a coat of concrete sealer. The sealer will protect the concrete and the stain from spills and foot traffic. Apply a polyurethane coating rather than an enamel sealant. Enamel tends to turn yellow over time. Wait 24 to 48 hours before allowing anyone to walk on the floors.
