Macintosh Requirements for Photoshop CS2 (Standalone)

• Macintosh users eager to install Photoshop CS2 as a standalone product needed at least a G3 processor, if not a G4 or G5. While the program would run under Mac OS X Jaguar 10.2.8, Adobe recommended Panther, citing 10.3.4 through 10.3.8 as ideal. Photoshop CS2 required at least 320 MB and preferably 384 MB of RAM, 750 MB of free disk space and a 16-bit graphics card driving a monitor at a minimum resolution of 1024 by 768. The program shipped on CD media, so an optical drive also was a requirement. Program activation required either an Internet connection for in-software authorization or a phone line to contact Adobe support for manual activation.
  
  

Macintosh Requirements for Photoshop CS2 (Creative Suite)

• Creative Suite 2 posed steeper hardware and software requirements than Photoshop CS2 on its own. Macintosh users who obtained Photoshop CS2 as part of the Creative Suite needed at least a G4 processor. The RAM requirement rose to 384 MB just to run one CS2 product alongside Adobe's productivity and file management applications, Bridge and Version Cue. Windows Requirements for Photoshop CS2 (Standalone)

• On Windows, standalone Adobe Photoshop CS2 mandated an Intel Xeon---single or dual---Centrino, or Pentium III or 4 processor. Users with Windows XP (Service Pack 1 or 2) or Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4) were able to install Photoshop CS2, provided they had at least 320 MB of RAM and 650 MB of hard drive real estate. Like Macintosh users, Windows users needed a 16-bit graphics card driving a monitor at a minimum resolution of 1024 by 768 and a CD drive for product installation. • Unlike Macintosh users, Windows users faced nearly identical requirements for Creative Suite 2 and standalone Photoshop CS2, simplifying their path to installation. Unsurprisingly, hard drive space requirements for the suite topped out at two to three GB, depending on whether the installation incorporated the standard or professional edition. Windows users also needed to run QuickTime 6.5 for multimedia support.
