VersaCheck is software that allows you to create checks on-demand with your printer. If you use checks frequently for your household or business, printing your own checks can be cheaper than ordering. In order for VersaCheck to be of any use, however, you must have a compatible printer. - According to the software publisher, you must use a printer compatible with one of the following Windows editions: Windows 7, Vista, XP Service Pack 2, Server 2000, Server 2003 or Server 2008.
- VersaCheck works with both inkjet and laser printers. Keep in mind that the type of printer you choose will affect print speed and quality. Laser printers work much faster than inkjets, but the quality isn't as good. Inket printers pay more attention to detail, but they print slower and use more ink. Laser printers are the more economic solution for printing in large volumes. An inkjet will suffice for low-volume projects.
- VersaCheck works with any printer paper type. Generally, laser printers only work with a handful of common paper sizes and weights. Many inkjet models have much more flexibility in the types of paper that can be used.
Regular printer ink works fine with VersaCheck. Special magnetic MICR ink is also available that ensures compliance with federal bank regulations. Use this type of ink to prevent tampering and fraud.
