How to Remove a Delta Shower Diverter O-Ring
- 1). Locate the shut-off valves for the shower. The shut-off valves are usually behind the wall on which the the shower fixtures are located, with an access panel in the adjacent room. Turn the shut-off valves clockwise to shut the water to the shower off.
- 2). Remove the set screw securing the shower faucet handle with an Allen wrench. Pull the handle away from the wall.
- 3). Turn the screws securing the escutcheon plate, which is the protective cover located around the faucet, to the wall with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Pull the escutcheon plate away from the wall.
- 4). Pull the sleeve away from the cartridge. The sleeve covers the outside of the cartridge and should pull off with your fingers.
- 5). Loosen the bonnet nut securing the cartridge to your home's plumbing with a pair of slip joint pliers. Turn the bonnet nut by hand and remove it from the cartridge. Roll the O-ring off the cartridge with your fingers.
