Colt State Park in Bristol is often referred to as the 'gem' of the Rhode Island State Parks System. The entire western border of the park is an open panorama onto Narragansett Bay. Open year round, the park offers four miles of bicycle trails passing along the Bay and through 464 acres of groomed fruit trees, carefully nurtured flowering bushes, and manicured lawns.
The park features ten large playfields, six picnic groves containing 400+ picnic tables, and its popular open air Chapel-By-The-Sea.

Beavertail State Park

Located in Jamestown, Beavertail State Park features scenic vistas of the New England coastline. The 153-acre park offers opportunities for sightseeing by car, from any of four overlooks, or on foot, from the rocky coastline. Beavertail also provides some of the best saltwater fishing in the area, along with hiking trails, and a naturalist program that attracts hundreds of people each year. The park's tidepools are accessible for ecology or marine biology field studies. Park is open year round from sunrise to sunset.

Blackstone River State Park

Located between the Blackstone River and Blackstone Canal, the riverfront park includes walking paths, canoe portage, and freshwater fishing. Historic walking tours are offered along the canal tow path. Built in 1828, the Blackstone Canal was designed to provide quick and easy transportation for goods between Worcester, MA and Providence, RI. The Canal operated for less than 20 years before the Providence and Worcester Railroad replaced it.
The Blackstone River Bikeway will ultimately extend 48 miles from Providence, RI to Worcester, MA. Currently, 8 miles of bike path are open to the public in Lincoln & Cumberland, RI. When completed, the bike path will serve as an alternate mode of transportation for commuters as well as a multi-use recreational facility.
Located along the Blackstone River Bikeway and the Blackstone Canal is the Kelley House, home of ships captain and mill owner Wilbur Kelley. The home has been transformed into a transportation museum. The Captain Wilbur Kelly House Transportation Museum is open April-October, 7 days a week. For further information, call 401-333-0295.
