Bloco da Ansiedade (the "Anxiety Bloco") is a rare type of Carnival bloco in Rio de Janeiro: the music is frevo, the feverish rhythm of Recife and Olinda. A top-rank metal band leads the bloco parades in the streets of Laranjeiras, on Rio de Janeiro's South Side. There are dancers carrying the characteristic multicolored umbrellas of Pernambuco frevo revelers wearing masks, and a symbol giant puppet, Dom Dudu, o Ansioso (Dom Dudu, the Anxious).

The bloco was founded by artist Fernando Carvalho from Pernambuco, psychologist Antônio Carlos Maia and artist Daniel Perez in 1997. Its official colors are pink and silver, but you can wear any colors to the parade. A bloco T-shirt is issued every Carnival.

In 2008, Bloco da Ansiedade won the 100 Anos de Frevo – Maestro Duda Award from the Brazilian Ministry of Culture.

Bloco da Ansiedade is a member of Sebastiana, Rio's Independent Association of Street Carnival Blocos from the South Side, Santa Teresa and Centro.
